Ardbeg Uigeadail
Many regard Ardbeg Uigeadail as the pinnacle of our range. Gaelic for ‘dark and mysterious place’, Uigeadail (pronounced ‘Oog-a-dal’) is named after Ardbeg’s water source, Loch Uigeadail, positioned 600 feet above sea level and the Distillery. It’s a special vatting that marries Ardbeg’s traditional deep, smoky notes with luscious, raisiny tones of old ex-Sherry casks.
TASTING NOTES:
NOSE – Warm Christmas cake, smouldering coal fires. Leather, treacle toffees and chocolate raisins. Water brings forth a fired Christmas pudding, tarry smoke, diesel engine oil, flowering currants, walnut bread and mocha espresso.
TASTE – Rich, oily and mouthcoating – winter spices explode. Honey-glazed smoked food and treacle develops. Smoke builds like a fine Montecristo cigar.
FINISH – Amazingly long and chewy with lingering raisiny, deep mocha tones and aromatic smoke.
CASK STORY: Matured in ex-Oloroso Sherry and ex-Bourbon casks.
STRENGTH: 54.2% ABV (non chill-filtered).
FIRST RELEASED: 2003.
